a. If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy.

PROJECT STEPS

1. One of your duties as an assistant in the human resources department for Nash Engineering is to facilitate professional development activities for the engineers who work for the company. You have created guidelines to help engineers complete a professional development report that includes sample activities, and now you need to finish formatting it. Demote only the "Recognized Professional Development Activities" heading so it uses the Heading 2 style. (Hint: If using the Navigation pane, promote the next three headings to return them to their original heading levels.) Promote the "Sample Professional Development Report" heading until it uses the Heading 1 style.

2. Insert the Basic Process SmartArt in the blank paragraph in the "Introduction" section, and then enter the following text into the SmartArt, with each line of text appearing in a separate shape. Left shape: Reduce Risk Middle shape: Maintain Competence Right shape: Be Relevant

3. Resize the SmartArt to a height of 3.5" and a width of 7".

4. Add content to the table after the "Recognized Professional Development Activities" heading:

a. Add a new row to the end of the table.

b. Enter Completed a certification in the "Courses" column.

c. Enter Attended a supervision workshop in the "Workshops" column.

d. Enter Wrote an engineering textbook in the "Content Creation" column.

5. Apply the Grid Table 4—Accent 1 table style to the "Recognized Professional Development Activities" table and remove the First Column table style option. Format the table to AutoFit Contents. Repeat the table header row across the two pages.

6. To enhance the table after the "Sample Professional Development Report" heading, insert a formula that sums the values above in the blank cell to the right of "Total Hours." Use the mouse to increase the width of column A (the "Completion Date" column) so none of the text wraps. (Hint: If this causes the text in cell B2 to wrap, double-click the border between columns B and C to adjust the width of column B.) Align Top Right column C (the "Hours" column).

7. Apply the Grid Table 4—Accent 1 table style to the table so it matches the other tables in the document.

8. On each line of the list after the "Sample Mechanical Engineering Certifications" heading, set a 4" left tab stop with leader option 3 (the dashed leader). Press TAB to replace the space between each certification and its abbreviation in parenthesis.

9. Insert the Banded header, enter Nash Engineering as the document title, and then close the Header & Footer Tools.

Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
